calmbirth® Education —

Prepare for birth with calm and confidence.
A gentle, evidence-based approach trusted by parents across Australia

Australia’s most trusted, and scientifically proven childbirth education program —

Widely regarded as Australia’s most trusted, recommended, and evidence-based childbirth education program, calmbirth® was the first to recognise the powerful connection between mind and body in birth — how a woman’s emotional state can shape her body’s response. By nurturing this connection, calmbirth® helps expectant parents replace fear and anxiety with understanding, practical skills, and confidence, empowering them to approach birth calmly, safely, and with reassurance.

  • The calmbirth® program is suitable for first time and subsequent births; and for couples who have had a challenging birth experience and would like for their next birth experience to be different.

calmbirth® is an inclusive program, embracing and accepting all pregnant couples regardless of their age, culture, socio-economic or sexual orientation.

  • calmbirth® gently supports you with the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to prepare for a positive birth experience — however your journey unfolds. Grounded in evidence-based education, the program helps expectant parents feel informed, calm, and reassured as they approach birth and early parenthood.

Through guided relaxation and in understanding mind-body connection, you’ll learn how to ease anxiety and build trust in your body’s natural ability to birth. This focus on self-empowerment encourages you to access your inner resources and actively participate in your birth with confidence.

calmbirth® also supports your birth partner in learning how to provide meaningful emotional and practical care, helping to create a calm and protected environment throughout pregnancy and labour. Alongside this, the program nurtures your connection with your baby — exploring prenatal bonding, skin-to-skin contact, postnatal connection, and gentle ways to care for yourself as you transition into parenthood.

Research suggests that calmbirth® education is effective in reducing the likelihood for medical intervention, and supports emotional wellbeing during the perinatal period. Together, these foundations help expectant parents approach birth feeling calm, capable, and deeply supported — creating space for a positive beginning as you welcome your baby.

  • calmbirth® is a renowned 12-hour, face-to-face antenatal program designed to support both the emotional and psychological preparation for childbirth. With a gentle, evidence-informed approach, the class helps you build confidence, deepen your understanding of birth, and feel more prepared for the journey ahead.

Over the course of a weekend, delivered by myself, Kerri-Ann, you will learn:

    — How to alleviate the fear and tension of pregnancy and childbirth

    — How to access your own inner resources and strength

    — Simple relaxation, breathing and visualisation skills

What labour looks like, what to expect and when to come to hospital.

The role of the support person

Pain relief options. (Unmedicated and medicated)

    — Massage for labour and birth

    — How a woman’s body is wonderfully designed to birth her baby

    — The importance of beliefs and attitudes about birth and how these can profoundly affect a birth experience

    — To be empowered to create a positive birthing experience.

  • "We welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world last Friday. I am just writing to say thank you for finding a space in the calmbirth® class. Debriefing with you about my previous birth and writing my birth preferences really helped me feel confident and ready. In particular, the confidence the calmbirth course gives to partners is so profound. I noticed a big shift in how empowered he felt as the birth partner, an active participant in his son’s birth. We actually initially heard about calmbirth® from another Dad who had participated in the course and that speaks volumes. Thanks again for giving me the confidence to articulate my birth preferences and to voice them aloud. For giving me the space that day to shed buckets of tears over my first birth and then to move on and look forward to this birth”.

  • “I found our class with you to be incredibly informative and helpful in preparing us for labour. When we left, my partners first words were "wow I needed that". We both learnt so much and he now knows so much about what his role is during labour and is feeling a lot more confident. This is exactly what I wanted to achieve from your session so thank you so much”.

  • “ Thank you so much. I don’t really know how to describe the difference in the way I/we feel now. I would wake up every night over the last few weeks panicking about the birth of this babe. Last night I woke as usual but there was no signs of panic, dare I say maybe a small feeling of excitement for this birth and all the ways we know now to trust my body and how we can take control and make it the birth we want. This is massive for me! What you have done for us is really invaluable we can’t thank you enough”

  • “We wanted to thank you for how the calmbirth® workshop prepared us for our birth. The info you gave about what a caesarian might look like was life-changing on the day. I felt as prepared as I could be knowing how my birth support would look like on this day including when he would be there and when he wouldn't. We both felt that though nothing went how we'd hoped or planned, we were able to make informed choices and the arrival of our baby was overwhelmingly one that we feel at peace with. We've talked many a time about how we thought maybe the calmbirth® class wasn't for us because of the medical interventions we'd likely need, but we're both so relieved we went! So, thank you!”
